Stepping in
the Same Stream

A New, Revised Edition

Poetry by Deborah Davies

Stepping in the Same Stream, in its revised, 2015 edition, holds stories and observations drawn from five years of my life following Love in A Small Town. Love poems and poems about family and friends are more nuanced than — and I hope as tender as — those in my earlier books because my husband, Rick, and I are older and our lives are more complex. We spend more time near the "same stream" in the title, and this collection of work reflects my love of that stream.

Each of Davies' books is a journal in poetry. Taken together, they cover thirty years of a woman's life. In Stepping in the Same Stream, children, love and frustration, sex and sexuality, rescued animals, and quirky humor fill her poems.

"I have enjoyed poetry, but never really sought it out.
I was really taken by your poems and could have gone on reading. They cover the gamut of emotions — and elicit emotions from the reader in surprising ways."
— Lynda Myles, Emmy award-winning TV writer
